FAQ's
How Long Does a Custom Build Take?
Lead times vary depending on the project, my current build schedule, material availability, finishing requirements, and whether the piece will be delivered, installed, or shipped.
A smaller project may move through the shop relatively quickly, while a large piece of furniture or a detailed built-in will require more time. Your estimated schedule will be provided before you approve the project and submit your deposit.
Custom furniture should be planned well in advance, especially when it is needed for a holiday, move, renovation, wedding, or other specific event.
A quoted completion date is an estimate rather than a guarantee. Wood movement, material delays, finish curing, design changes, and other circumstances can sometimes affect the schedule. If something changes, I will communicate with you directly.

After the design direction is established, I will develop the project specifications and price.

Custom pricing is based on the actual materials, hardware, design complexity, labor, finishing requirements, and delivery needs of your project.
Changes made after the proposal may affect both the price and the completion schedule. Any changes will be discussed and approved before I move forward.
Deposit and Scheduling
A deposit is required before a custom project is added to my build schedule or materials are ordered.
Once the proposal is approved and the deposit is received, I will confirm your place in the schedule and begin sourcing the materials for your build.
The remaining balance and payment schedule will be explained in your proposal. Larger or more involved projects may include progress payments, while smaller projects may have the remaining balance due when the build is complete.
Because every piece is built individually, scheduling is based on my current workload, material availability, and the complexity of the project.
Your project is Built
Every custom piece is built by me in my shop—not passed through a production line or handed off to a crew.
Throughout the build, I may share photos or video updates so you can see the project taking shape. These updates often include important stages such as material selection, joinery, assembly, sanding, finishing, and the final reveal.
You will be kept informed, but you will not need to manage the build or make constant decisions. The major details will already have been settled before construction begins.
I accept custom projects that are a good fit for my skills, shop, schedule, and the 213 Woodworks style of craftsmanship.

I primarily work with quality hardwoods such as walnut, white oak, maple, cherry, and other materials selected specifically for the project. Cabinet-grade plywood, metal components, epoxy, lighting, and specialty hardware may also be used when the design calls for them.
Not every project will be the right fit. If I do not believe I can deliver the quality, function, or value the project requires, I will be straightforward about it.
What If I Only Have a Rough Idea?
That is completely fine.
Many custom projects begin with a customer saying:

Send me the idea, photograph, sketch, or problem you are trying to solve. I will ask questions, offer practical options, and help you determine whether it can become a successful custom build.
You do not need to design the piece before contacting the person who is going to build it.
Final Approval and Delivery
When the build is complete, I will inspect the piece, complete any final adjustments, and send you finished photos.
We will then arrange the appropriate delivery method.
Local delivery
Local delivery options will be discussed during the quoting process. The cost, delivery area, access requirements, and any needed assembly will be included in your proposal.
Installation
Some projects—such as built-ins, wall-mounted pieces, large furniture, or more complicated assemblies—may require installation. Installation requirements and pricing will be discussed before the project begins.
Nationwide shipping
Many 213 Woodworks projects can be shipped throughout the United States. Shipping costs are based on the size, weight, destination, packaging requirements, and delivery method.
Large furniture may require freight shipping or specialized delivery. These arrangements will be discussed early in the design process so there are no surprises at the end of the build.
