These are the same tips and tricks that I personally use in my home to keep my boards looking beautiful for years.

Apply board oil when the wood looks dry or feels rough — typically every 3–6 weeks with regular use — to hydrate the fibers and protect against cracking and moisture.

Apply board wax after oiling or as needed every few weeks to create a protective surface barrier that seals in moisture and enhances the wood’s natural luster.
A natural scrub brush and oil applicator set will make clean up and oiling your board much easier.
Use a soft, lint-free cotton or microfiber polishing cloth to evenly apply oil or wax and buff the surface to a smooth, natural sheen without scratching the wood.
Owner Tips
Crafted to be used — built to last
Your board was made for daily use. With simple care, it will continue to develop character and beauty for years to come.
Let the wood guide you
You don’t need a strict schedule. When the surface begins to look a little dry or less vibrant, a light coat of oil will restore richness and protection.
A little airflow goes a long way
After washing, let your board stand on edge for a few minutes. This allows air to circulate and helps the wood stay balanced over time.
Character is part of the story
Light knife marks and subtle color changes are natural signs of a board that’s being enjoyed. Regular conditioning helps the surface stay smooth and beautiful as it ages.
Keep it visible, keep it useful
Many owners leave their board on the counter between uses. Regular use and open airflow are often better than storing it away.
A simple monthly reset
Once in a while, give your board a quick refresh — clean, dry, oil, and buff. It only takes a minute and keeps the grain looking rich and alive.
Keep your edge
Pay attention to your knifes and keep them sharp. A sharp knife is better for your boards, a dull knife rips the fibers instead of slicing them.
Patina tells the story
Over time, your board will naturally develop deeper color and subtle character from regular use. This evolving patina is part of what makes each piece unique — a reflection of meals prepared, gatherings shared, and years of craftsmanship coming to life.

From the Shop
Thanks for supporting honest craftsmanship. Every board from 213 Woodworks is built by hand in my shop, one piece at a time, using real wood meant to be used — not hidden away. Over time your board will pick up marks, color, and character from the meals you make, and that’s exactly how it’s supposed to be.

Your board was built to work hard and age with character. Take care of it and it’ll serve you for years.

Built to be used every day. Built to last.
